PrestaShop is one of the most popular store platforms, which I especially recommend if you intend to have a lot of products on offer (even several thousand). PrestaShop is open source software, which means that you (or your developer) have ample opportunities to edit your store. Content and meta tags
As with other store platforms, the basis is to write a product descriptions i category descriptions . The rules are the same, so you may want to take a peek at previous posts.
When the descriptions are written it remains to publish them. To add a category description, select from the side menu: Sales > Catalog > Categories.
Then a screen will appear where you can add a description:
Below that you can add meta title and meta description . Title should be about 70 characters – it is a good idea to include the name of the category, positioned phrases and the name of the store. The meta description should be about 160 characters long – good if you include a call to action:

Hierarchy of headings
There is no SEO without headlines . PrestaShop positioning is so easy that category and product names are placed by default in the header <h1>. So in the rest of the content, it’s a good idea to insert headings <h2> and lower (preferably with the keyword phrase in the content).
Friendly URLs
To set friendly addresses in PrestaShop, choose from the side menu: Configure > Preferences > Traffic. Then go to the Set URLs section:
301 redirects
It is possible to do 301 redirects in PrestaShop, but you need to use an .htaccess file, which I wrote about in an article on 301 plugin .
This, of course, is only part of the possibilities that PrestaShop offers. SEO is a longer process that requires a lot of time and consistency. Need practical e-commerce and SEO tips tailored to your store’s stage of development? Contact me!
